YO! JMAN!!!!!!
I was just checking out your site, and enjoying it quite a bit. I've downloaded
the one of you under the Rushville sign and I'm going to put a poster-sized
version in my office.
I didn't get up to the Irvine show, but I'm considering going to New Hampshire
as it may be the last domestic tour date (hopefully not).
I trust that the boys treated you and your camera well.
I'm looking forward to seeing the latest batch of shots. After
reading in detail how you get that camera into shows, please don't hand
it to me to take a picture of you should our paths cross again (and I hope they do).
A couple of things. First and foremost, I want to thank you for your web site.
It must be an ass load of work, and this fan appreciates it sincerely.
I also wanted to get your opinion of the Nutall pictorial of Neil.
I was looking at them again, and frankly they are not real impressive
(subject matter withstanding). Just curious as to your opinion as a
semi-professional, transient-novice photographer. It seems like intruding
on Rush's creative process for several months would have netted a better
batch of photos.
I also am going to try to go through my "old Rush stuff" next time I visit
my mother's house in Seattle. I purchased a whole stack of concert
photos (3x5's) from a glorified head shop in my college years at Berkeley.
If I recall, they were mostly circa GUP/HYF. But I'd like to send them
to you to scan and return. I also had a button collection of 50+ and would
gladly offer any of them to you for placement on your official tour jacket.
I may not be up there until Christmas, but the thought is in my head.
Unfortunately, it does have company (limited), so don't hold your breath
[just your fire (lame Rush pun)].
I've used so many damn parathesis in this letter that I've had to resort
to the "[]", whatever the hell they are called. If you ever are up
in Seattle and want an original piece of Presto art that measures about 3x5
feet you can have that too (a bit of a shallow offer on this last one).
I bought it from the Tower Records in Berkeley. It is pretty cool with
real curtains and a 3D bunny popping out of a hat.
They had a local artist do these things for new album releases.
It is not going to make it into my house ever and I wouldn't try
to ship it, but if you know anyone in that area that would want such
a thing let me know. I also had a bunch of posters mounted, they are up for grabs as well.
If you ever happen to be roadtripping up in that direction...
I really enjoyed seeing the usual suspects at so many shows.
It's good to know I'm not the only freak out there. With kids now,
I have to "take it easy" and have only managed 5 shows thus far.
My personal record was 10 on the Presto tour with front row seats 4
nights in a row. That was epic. I had about 5 grand to my name
and blew almost all of it on that tour. I'll never forget Alex coming
out onto stage and seeing me again in the front row. He just laughed.
He was kind enough to throw me his guitar pick after the show.
This pick along with the drum stick from TFE in Toronto are my
two untouchable Rush keepsakes. I don't know what you can get from Geddy.
A shirt I guess, but even that's not in the stick and pick league.
I'm really rambling here. My subject line seems a bit inadequate.
I'd like to hear about the Irvine and/or Phoenix shows. If you get some time,
drop me a line. Hope I see you again (that would mean something good, wouldn't it?).
Endlessly Rocking.

GRATTITUDE SPEAKS FROM THE FIRST ROW
SCRANTON SHOW ROCKED, BUSINESS CARD WORKED
I also have the problem of not scoring good seats. We had to do a lottery
which I was very surprised about, cuz there's usually no one at the mall that
was selling the tickets, but everyone was waiting for Cher and American Idol
tickets! So strangely enough the lady at the ticketmaster outlet asked my
friend to pick a number to see who was first in line, and guess what, I was
second, and I didn't even get floor seats for the Philly show. I did get a
decent view though, on Geddy's side. And, for the NJ show, we originally had
row 40, which got upgraded to row 13! So I was happy. Not like I'll ever get
1st row, lol. Anyway.
At Scranton, were you about row 17 or so, Geddy's side? (eD - NOPE, DEAD CENTER, 6TH ROW, SORRY!) I did see two guys,
I know at least one of them had a Rush jacket on, who high fived each other a
lot, hehe, were one of those guys you? (ED: PROBABLY!!!)
Anyway, I know it's strange cuz you have no idea who I am, but I am just a
fellow fan who happened to attend the Rush show and in trying to clean my
room just *a bit* tonight, I found the card I was given, Echoes of Old
Applause A Web Site for Rush Fans, and I decided to come visit it for a bit.
Well good luck, and happy trails with your Rush shows.. wait, actually, I
think the shows you were speaking of are over! Doh! Silly me. Well
anyway.. happy Rush trails to you!

JMAN2112 CORRESPONDS TO MEXICO CITY
ED NOTE: I wrote to a journalist in Mexico City about the Oct. 10th
show to this guy, trying to do it in Spanish. Pretty funny, but he
replied in perfect English.
Ok, I understood ya. Great website! I'm a true Rush fan, but I never saw 'em
coz they never were here playin'. I was at the press conference with Geddy &
Alex, and I think they we're impressed with the warm welcome we gave them.
Hope they won't retire and continue making records after all, thanks a
lot...

Just wanted to highlight a link I noticed in a rush.net posting:
http://www.derivativeinc.com/Company/Events/8-Rush-tour/main.asp
It led to a very cool second link....the most detailed concert review I've seen. Its amazing what they are doing with the light show - these links goes into the details.
http://www.fye.com/contentPages/base.jhtml?name=/rush/home1.jhtml
The updated screens for Natural Science and Leave that thing alone sound specially nice. Love the idea of the baby Zoops and Shoops on the screen during Leave that thing alone.
Also, an excellent Alex rants link: http://www.nocturne.us.
I'm getting psyched ....I'll be seeing Rush in Baltimore in 10 days,
then again at the end of the tour (for me at least) in New Hampshire.
I did end up getting one of those black Cannon sureshots - takes
great pics. Can't wait to try it out.
Thanks for the great pics from the recent
shows in the West coast. Looks like you had fun.
loved seeing the pictures from san diego. thanks for taking the time to
do for all us Rush fans what you do!!!!!
They were SO TIGHT in Phoenix, they played basically the same
set list they have been playing all tour, 28 songs, no opening band and
yes, there was one hell of a windstorm n the first set but everything
quieted down after that, Cricket is an outdoor amphitheatre so the
acoustics were awesome, Geddy looks as he has actually gained weight! and
Alex is a buff homie, in Overture, he id domse babbling tale about snoring
that I couldnt quite understand.. and Neils drum solo was unbelievable..
bought that 3 cd set "different stages" that has that sweet live
performance from the Odeon in 78.. you can hear how much higher Geddy used
to be able to get his voice back then.. I now understand your obsession and
join you in heralding them as the best liver performance band around..
plus, those songs stir something deep in side you, remind me of how there
music has been in the background of our lives since we were kids, you cant
get that from matchbox 20!.. peace out..scott p.s. Yeah, I checked out your
site, sweet photogs!
Yes I too have had problems getting seats on the VT tour.
All that I have gotten from TM is crap, well they could be worse...But they sure as hell could have been better.
15th row KC (Bought off eBay)
30th row St. Louis (eBay)
L15 row G Las Vegas (TM)...ended up on end of 4th row floor, old friend from my Vegas days gave me his ticket (Comp)
P22 row 4 Ames IA (TM)...but have sold those...picked up 3rd row (Alex Side) on eBay
Working on Comp tickets for Target Center MN
I really hope to get those for MN, have been working on them as well as the Film Advertisement Poster for the MGM at the same time. We are keeping our fingers crossed.
I take it you have a vest or jacket...mine it the VT Bowling Shirt with some items added...Boy does it get alot of attention!!! It is you could say...A Work In Progress
Have a Great Day
Mark
HOly Cow Jordan. No, I haven't bought anything for my jacket in 10 years. I do still have it. see attachment - taken today.
I saw a guy at the UMB show with a vest like yours. I thought it was cool so I went up to him and told him I liked it.
It was a good tour and it was nice to see the guys again. I met some chick at the concert who ran a RUSH mag. She and her boyfriend where following RUSH. It was her 39th show. And my 13th.
So did you get good seats for all the shows you saw?
Hey..I was just reading your piece on photographing shows and the Scranton
story had me rolling! (and I actually think I remember her hassling you!)
I was on the end of the aisle on the right side of Row 7, and the Blondie
Brute was hassling ME all night long! hahaha!!! Everytime this chick
thought that people were getting away with something she asked me for my
ticket stub to prove that I sat there.. I finally told her to either stop
bugging me or to send her supervisor down to talk to me! I'm TRYING to
enjoy the show! (my brother in law kept telling me she wanted a date!
hahaha!!!)
I've never SEEN such horrible security!
Are you going to Hershey? I can almost bet that the security will be as
bad if NOT worse! I'm just wondering if they're doing a pre-sale?!?!
Anyway, keep up the great work!
Hey Jman..
I happened to bump into you at the Scranton show waiting at the box office for tix. Anyway, I thought I'd share my Columbus experience with you...
I have been road tripping to see RUSH since '84. I have never purchased tix in advance for a road trip, I have found it's always better to buy at the box office on the day of the show, which in most cases has proven to be quite adventagous. Columbus Ohio was a different story though...
My friends Chris, Chuck and myself had been planning this trip for a couple of weeks. They had tix (Row K on Ged's side) and I was just planning on hitting the box office and picking up something decent. I wake up the morning of the show, hit ticketbastard just to see whats available and I couldnt believe what I saw... FRONT ROW CENTER!. I get on the phone with Chris right away, buy the tickets and away we go...
Absolutely unbelieveable that the morning of the show there were 2 front row center tix just staring me in the face from ticketbastard. But it is the truth. I still have the stub and the confirmation e-mail if you want proof.
That morning started what would become an absolutely amazing string of 4 shows in 5 nights (Columbus, Indy and both shows here in Detroit). 3 out of 4 shows front row! (again, proof is available as well as witness accounts).
I think I'm doing pretty good on this tour...
Scranton: 9th row Center
Chicago: 5th row Center
Columbus: FRONT ROW CENTER
Indy: 15th row Center
Detroit 8/11 FRONT ROW CENTER
Detroit 8/12 FRONT ROW CENTER
Upcoming shows...
Chicago
Cleveland
Toronto
With the prospect of:
Atlanta
Baltimore
Montreal
Quebec City
My mind and senses were ecstatically blown this past Saturday night
as my wife and I (along with a travelling Swede I met in ticket line)
saw the most incredible, re-invigotated, re-vitalized Rush show in years.
It affirmed that our approach to life, as much as life itself, is what
creates its' importance, success, and triumph.
Trust, Share, and Give. What you need will find you, even with something as
'small' as Tickets. And, again, thank you for all the effort you put into this site, so that
some casual stroller like me can stop by and enjoy it.
hello there-
first thanks for a great site full of live photos! i
saw the boys in Charlotte and it was fantastic.
getting ready for Atlanta now! :)
second, i make different types of digital fanart. i
have made many rush pieces like this one. :)
http://fredfarm.com/~fortytwo/collage/turnthepage.jpg
i would love to use some of your photos to make some
wallpaper centered on live performances. PLease let me
know if this would be ok. thanks so much for the great
shots!
Just had to say your website is really excellent and your photos are an incredible record of their live shows.
I flew over from the uk to see them in kansas, Mo, Cincy and Pittsburgh -they were incredible - I'm heading back over for some Oct/Nov shows - hell it's all on my credit card :-)
I took a few photos on a throw a way camera at Oittsburgh, and a couple came out - nice memories.
However, what you provide in terms of photos are such a great way of remembering the shows.
JMAN,
I met you at the Irvine show on the 28th. The way we scored our
tickets was through a broker. Most of the good seats are senate
seats if you will. The people that own these tickets sell them
to a broker and give them a percentage of the profits. Depending
on the demand of the tickets the prices fluctuate as the particular
show you want to attend nears. The seats we had for the show
were right behind the soundboard(loge 6, row FF, seats 615 & 616)
6 weeks before the show they were $300 each. We purchased them
10 days before and paid $100 each for them. The had a huge variety
to choose from. I believe the brokers pull from the same pool.
basically 1st come 1st serve and depending how much commission
they want to earn. Hope this helps...........We all liked the jacket.
Have fun on your journey.......
Hi Jordan (I assume your name is Jordan),
Myself and my 14 y/o daughter met you very briefly during intermission
at the Rush concert at STAPLES. You asked my daughter what she liked
about your jacket and she replied, simply, "everything". (lol)
Anyway, I just have 1 request. I was wondering if you have a picture of
neil peart, with the screen in the background, during the very end of
his solo. where during the last 5 sec. or so, there's an extended image
of a very young BUDDY RICH behind him on the big screen. I would LOVE a
copy of that image, if you have it.
BTW, are you familiar with the tribute album peart did for buddy? I'm
sure you are. I'm a jazz trombone player and a huge fan of buddy rich,
so when I saw the aforementioned album I couldn't believe it. During
the solo when the big band music (I think it's count basie's signature
song, "jumpin' at the woodside") started being piped in, I was totally
floored and got all emotional (haha). Then seeing buddy's image popping
up throughout that part of the solo, I thought was VERY cool. And the
extended image at the end. I thought that was the best.
Well, enough rambling from me. Anything you can do would be awesome,
and thanks for the great site!
Hey Jman, Tonight's the night. Went to see Rush over the weekend in Las Vegas
(MGM Grand). The show was awesome!! Unfortunately I had terrible seats
for the Vegas show. I've got 2nd row seats for today's show at Coors. I've been counting
the minutes. Liked your reply to Good's article in the SD Reader. Well
enjoy tonight's show and thanks for all your work on a great web page.
I got great tickets for their Oct 22 concert in Toronto. I went online
to Ticker Master at 10:00.01 on September 14th (one second after they
open for sale) and got tickets on one of the risers on the right side of
the stage almost all the way back. I decided to cancel them and try
again and boy-o-boy I am glad I did! The next time Ticket Master gave me
some seats, they were on the main floor in the front of Section 6, two
seats from the middle isle. They are using the "West Stage" at the Air
Canada Centre so these tickets would be on about center ice. The stadium
was built for the Maple Leafs a couple of years back. So we will be
about 150 feet away from what should be the best concert in the tour!
Seeing how the boys consider Toronto their home town, I figured they
would rock even more than when I saw them in Detroit a few months
before.
RUSH ROCKS!!!
Thanks
Hi !
We met the other night at the Irvine show..what a performance!
Would you happen to know if and when they will be making a return trip to so cal. or san Diego this year?
Thanks for the info
Yo J-Man,
This is Jon from Colorado (insert stick figure here). I'm sure you remember
me since I've only seen you at 4 shows (thus far, but the night is young).
In case you have forgotten me, I was with the beautiful red head at the

Sean
Hey there,
Just wanted to say I fully enjoyed the Scranton show, are you coming to any
more up this way (Hershey, Philly, NYC, etc?). I'm trying to get to the
Hershey, Philly, and NJ shows.
Hello Jordan, I appreciate you taking the time and responding to me.
You sound like a real good guy who enjoys Rush just as much as I do.
I check in with your website everyday. I went to the shows in Milwaukee
and Chicago. The Milwaukee show was far better. The guys were so loose.
They were just ON. I think it was the best show I have ever seen and I
hope they come around again soon. If you could talk to your buddy about
the video I would greatly appreciate it. I think you already have my
specifications for the video(good sound and picture quality with a
lot of good shots of Neil - not just close-ups - like the Albany '96 show -
He'll know what I mean) If you could e-mail me when you find out something
I would appreciate immensely. What are the names of the audio shows that
you have? I have seen a couple out there. Which ones are the best so far?
I can't get over your amazing pictures. Keep up the good work. You're doing
a terrific job.
