Band Arrives at Airport
(First Note) - Neil Peart arrived last night in Porto Alegre with his spouse Carrie. Just as in Sao Paulo, he did not talk to anybody and did not even smile. The news was a surprise to all, since the band was expected to arrive in the afternoon at the Salgado Filho Airport. Now we have to wait and see when Alex and Geddy are arriving.
(Second Note) - In a group interview, Alex and Geddy confirmed that they will be playing "Closer to the Heart" in all three shows in Brazil. The level of questions surprised both the musicians. They had no idea that in Brazil people know about so many details of Rush's career. Neal was not present in the interview. Geddy noted that the drummer is not appearing in any promotions on this tour because he feels uncomfortable about possible questions regarding the deaths of his daughter and wife. Rush should arrive at Porto Alegre late this morning at the Salgado Filho Airport. The show starts at 9 p.m. and the gates will open at 5 p.m.
(Third Note) - A group of fans have been waiting at the Olympic Stadium since 4 a.m. At 8 a.m. there were already around 80 Rush maniacs in line to see the show. The weather is not helping. It is raining and the forecast is that it will continue cloudy with showers at least until Rush goes up to the stage. The stadium is ready for the show, only a few details still need to be taken care of around the VIP seats, to the left of the stage. The VIP seats are regular plastic seats. The space for them is so small that it allows everyonne a great view of the band.
(Fourth Note) - I just arrived, I haven't really slept yet and have been talking to Alex. When Neil arrive, the lobby was crowded and everyone who was with me at the airport ran to try and take a picture of him. I took a profile picture of Neil and he turned around and made a strange noise with his mouth at me. Later, he stayed outside the airport with his wife, Carrie, standing still like a statue. But while Neil was waiting for his van to arrive, some guy took Silvio's camera and threw it on the ground and it broke. After the incident people left the lobby and Neil was still standing there like a statue not even looking sideways. A van picked him and Carrie up. We stood there talking, until Geddy and Alex arrived. Geddy came towards me, he looked tired but was very nice and signed the CD!!! I was very excited. Alex was giving autographs to all and I ran to get one too. After lots ofpictures with Geddy and Alex, they started to leave the airport and we applauded and screamed with emotion. All of us got in a picture with Alex. Alex was always nice, smiled, and thanked us. Geddy and Alex got into a van and I said to Geddy, "Vapor Trails" please...and the van door closed. A cameraman was in the van filming us outside. When the van left, Alex and Geddy waived at us and we waived back to them. It was beautiful!
