Page and Plant Unleaded Tour, 1995

MEET MR. PLANT! - This is an original photograph, taken by Charlene. Charlene and I actually met Robert Plant at the Board Riders Club Surf Shop in Laguna Beach, just a few hours before his show at Irvine Meadows on October 13th, 1995. Charlene took most of the photos and I bought the tickets.

In 1995, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page re-united, released a new CD called "Unleaded" and went on their Unleaded Tour. I saw two of these shows, the first at the San Diego Sports Arena in San Diego, CA., on May 13th, 1995, and then five months later at Irvine Meadows Amphitheater in Irvine, CA. on October 13th. The cost of a single ticket to these shows was $75. Pretty outrageous, but for the experience, it was pretty worth it.

A little bit of Led Zeppelin trivia that I don't particularly look upon fondly. In 1979, my good friend Cathy Hearndon (18 years ago?) said that I NEEDED to see Led Zeppelin, and she bought me a ticket to see them on their In Through the Out Door Tour. This was in Houston, Texas. She bought the tickets...we were going to the show... to see one of THE most influential rock bands in history...and John Bonham died about two months before our concert, and we sadly returned the tickets.

However, there is an end note to that story. I liked the San Diego Page and Plant show so much that I bought two tickets to the one at Irvine, hoping that I could find a good friend to take along and share some of that magic. I took a co-worker, Charlene, whom I had become very good friends with. That was a really fateful day, a day that only comes around once in a lifetime. Read the story below, and you'll see what I'm talking about...
